Dear Rotarians,

My family and I would like to wish you a happy new year 2020.

At the beginning of January, festive receptions are organized everywhere, which gives us the opportunity to meet many people to whom we convey, in a good mood, our most sincere wishes.

We are already halfway through the Rotary year, but we still have plenty of time to give our organization and our clubs the necessary exposure to the outside world.

Many clubs are preparing their fundraising activities, which require the mobilization of members but also of people outside the clubs… This is a great opportunity to put Rotary in the spotlight and to get in touch with potential new members.

By creating Rotary, Paul Harris wanted to bring together entrepreneurs and the liberal professions so that they appreciate each other in a context of 'ethical behavior and integrity in professional life'.

Today we call it professional action and it is still one of Rotary's 'selling points'.

Young professionals can be attracted to Rotary through its networking or the experiences of its members, but also through the ethical values they can find in our organization, and this around the world.

However, we know that being a Rotarian is not limited to the club, it is also an essential and persistent element of daily and professional life. We know there are many things that must be done inside and outside of our clubs to promote and serve Rotary permanently.

But if you join Rotary, that doesn't mean that all of our free time should be spent on it, or that all tasks should always be done by the same members. On the contrary, the torch must be passed on to new members, for example Rotaractors, so that they too can develop the necessary leadership.

We are aware that young applicants have less free time due to various professional or family requirements. This is why the RI has created new, more flexible possibilities for clubs: satellite clubs, passport clubs, corporate members, etc. The terms can be found at the following address: https://my.rotary.org/fr/club-flexibility. There you will find a range of new workforce options.

If you meet a promising and inspiring candidate in January, think about the content of this message and don't hesitate to let him know about the ROTARY. Because indeed: THE ROTARY CONNECTS THE WORLD.
