Dear friends,
corona times make it difficult to express the heartiness that every Rotarian carries. We can no longer hug each other, we can no longer shake hands, we cannot even see each other in person.
But the power of Rotary, the drive to deliver what we stand for, remains. Everywhere in the district 2170 spontaneous actions arise as you can read in the monthly letter from the governor and Ziekenhuis zonder Grenzen also realizes a number of actions to combat covid-19. Internationally, Rotary is also not standing still as you can read on the website: https://www.rotary.org/en/rotary-monitors-coronavirus-outbreak.
And our club takes action by sending letters to elderly people from the Halmolen residential care center who have been living in social isolation for weeks. Letter writers can direct their letters to Edwige, who will happily hand over the letters to read to the group of older people. Nor will we let go of OLO, where placed young people reside. Now that they are no longer going to school and activities are getting more and more difficult, our club has made a financial contribution to buy craft materials. In any case, they are very happy with it.
And luckily we can see each other every week thanks to our Zoom meetings. Every week there is laughter, the latest news is exchanged and everyone is wished for good health. But we want to go a step further and add even more value to the weekly meetings. So on April 16, we organized a quiz where everyone sent in special items and had to guess the others for what it was. You can read more about this in the report of the meeting. We are still looking for ideas for the following weeks, but we organize something every week. Hopefully, at these meetings, see those we haven't seen for a long time, or those who are abroad. That would be nice.
