Feeënbomen
Anita presented us with a possible fund raising project that turned out to be a huge success in Dilsen-Stokkem this year: 'de Feeënbomen', although it got stuck in Anita's brain as the 'Rotary Elfenbomen' :-). For your convenience here is a link to some of the newspaper articles. Our club is looking into how we can use this idea, give it a Rotary twist and trial it for OLO, the children's home in Brasschaat. Time wise we are thinking toward the end of the school year, as for many of these children the Summer holiday is not a period they look forward to. No need to say our club will turn this into a major event, with it's trial out location Brasschaat, as in this way our good cause OLO that is located in Brasschaat might benefit from the fact that we will place our 'Elfen bomen' in Brasschaat with hopefully the support of the local government, shops and entrepreneurs.... Sinterklaas
Annemie has been liaising with OLO to find out what was on their Sinterklaas wish list... Thank you Annemie!
A budget of 750 euro has been spent on:
Leaving 193 euro that has been spent on Art materials. Apart from the Art materials all gifts have been collected and although OLO will truly miss the visit of our own in house Sinterklaas en Zwarte Piet, they are very grateful to us and excited to see the faces of the children when they open their presents. Pictures of the presents will be sent to us after they have been unwrapped.
Lucia
6 computers have been purchased by our club for this organisation. A total of 1998 euro has been spent purchasing these. The organization will collect the computers from Ilse and Ian (in Kapellen) and they will then distribute these computers amongst those children who need to follow 'on line classes' but do not have access to a computer at home. Eric will ask one of the people responsible for this organisation to join one of our online meetings and tell a bit more about the fantastic work they do.
Wine
Our club will be selling wite and red wine. Please make sure to place your orders and try to sell to your business, social and family network.
Finance
Please check if you have paid your contributions. The Rotary financial spreadsheet will be checked/updated in December.
Fun and friendship
After a full hour of us all buzzing with ideas to help those in need, finding ideas to increase the necessary funds our President as usual would not let us go without making sure we had some good laughs together. what better way to do so by playing the well known game 'talking about a given subject without using the word euchhhh'. no need to say, we ended the meeting on a high, smiling and in good spirits - Thank you, Eric.
