Letter from our governor

Tuesday, December 1, 2020

November was the month of the "Rotary Foundation", but the Rotary Foundation doesn't only operate in the month of November. The RI theme of the month of December is one of the 7 areas of focus of the Rotary Foundation, namely "Disease Prevention and Treatment", the treatment and prevention of diseases.

Internationally, the RF seeks to reduce the causes and consequences of disease by improving the capabilities of local health workers, by fighting the spread of HIV / AIDS, malaria and other major diseases, by improving the health infrastructure, by improving the health infrastructure. educating and mobilizing local populations in the prevention of the spread of diseases and also by supporting studies related to the prevention of these diseases.

Closer to us, 'prevention' is also crucial, just think of all the simple things you can do to avoid and curb the effects of Covid-19, ranging from simply washing your hands to wearing face masks and respecting the 1.5 meter line.

For us Rotarians, "Prevention" is also part of making the young people in our society aware of the dangers of not following those rules and pretending that Covid does not exist.
"Prevention" is also extremely important to me as a dentist professionally and this for the maintenance of healthy and intact teeth.

But we are taking a completely different approach ... colon cancer and its prevention! And to learn more about this, we went to Antwerp where we visited Dr. Luc Colemont, a pioneer in the awareness campaign around the early detection of colon cancer.
For the interview ... see the video version of this monthly letter.

Dear doctor, dear Luc, to what extent did the detection of colon cancer in 2020 suffer under the almost all-determining Covid terror and fear?
Have a suggestion for our Rotary District 2140 for help or support in your campaign?

And remember ... on 12/18 we are going to cook together for Polio ... COOK FOR POLIO
