Weekly meeting

These difficult corona times should not be a pretext for the Rotarians to fail to fulfill their core task: "Service above self". It is also difficult and together we have to be creative enough to come up with solutions. Since not everyone can attend our meetings, I will try to give a weekly overview of the points we discussed. Feel free to comment and suggest your contribution.

During our meeting of September 17, we discussed the following points.

1.  Our club, like most other service clubs, is in need of new members who are willing to participate in achieving our goals.
   1. Franscesca Garbato has announced through Rotary International that she is looking for a club in Antwerp. She is Italian and works at Janssen Pharmaceutica. Unfortunately she could not come on 17.09.2020, but we invite herfor next week.
   2. Erik Van den Eynde, who was already present for a couple of times, will also be invited next week.
   3. Edwige will take on the recruitment of new members. Eric gives her a list of candidates and we will discuss together how and when we can invite them to our club.
2. We must work on our fund raising and the realization of social goals.
   1. Like last year, we would again be selling wine by the end of the year to raise money for our charities. We have asked for information about possible wines for our end-of-year promotion. We would like to sample it in advance. Annemie succeeds.
   2. For our Casino Night, we unfortunately still have to wait before we can set a date.
3. The New Years reception of the Antwerp clubs will take place on Thursday 07.01.2021. To be in line with the rules around corona, this will be done outdoors in Zoersel with radiant heaters. More information follows.
4. Our club plays a leading role in the organization of the professional action of 2021. Unlike in previous years, there will be no evening organized at the University of Antwerp, but the meetings will be organized online. We will keep you informed of further developments.
5. The connection with the members who, for some reason, could not be present on Thursday, was nice, but not without technical problems. Nevertheless, we will continue to do this to maintain contact with all members and to maintain our togetherness.
